CHRISTOPHER RUSSELL WINS HUMANITIES PAPER PRIZE
learn moreChristopher Russell has been named the winner of the Fourth Annual Hellenic College Humanities Paper Prize awarded by the Literature and History Program. Christopher’s winning paper, entitled “America's Response to the Greek Revolution: The Rhetoric of American Philhellenism, 1821-1828," and written in Professor Nicholas Ganson's Greek Revolution Directed Study course this past spring, was selected from a pool of outstanding papers nominated by professors from courses taught during the 2020-21 academic year. ENVIRONMENTAL HISTORY CLASS CONDUCTS FIELD RESEARCH
learn moreOn Friday, September 24, Professor Nicholas Ganson’s Environmental History class, accompanied by Hellenic College Interim Dean Timothy Patitsas, conducted field research on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. The group examined evidence of interactions between humans and the natural environment at numerous sites, including Mass Audubon's Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary. The field trip provided students with insights into the island’s history, ecology, and conservation efforts. Dean Patitsas offered reflections on the beauty of the natural world from an Orthodox perspective and the importance of its preservation, which has been a point of emphasis for Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew during his tenure.

Dr. George Karahalios Library and Lounge. This welcoming and versatile space is made possible by the generous donation of Presvytera Calypso “Lee” Karahalios, in memory of her late husband. NEW ACADEMIC SERVICES COORDINATOR APPOINTED
learn moreDanielle Brown has been appointed the Coordinator of HCHC's Center for Academic Services. Ms. Brown received both a bachelor's degree in English Adolescence Education and a master's degree in English from the State University of New York (SUNY) New Paltz. In her role as Coordinator, Ms. Brown will direct the writing center, arrange tutoring in other subjects, and serve as the principal liaison for students requiring academic accommodations.
